Hallux Valgus – a complex rehabilitation and prevention plan

Those who experienced the problem know the feeling of imminent attacks of thousands of small needles that you can´t stop in any way. Besides that, there is an inherent unsightliness when the big toe gradually leaves our otherwise straight foot and turns off aside and we wonder how long we are going to keep it in the shoe.

Hallux valgus is a structural deformity and as such cannot be completely eliminated. However, such measures can be taken as to stop “turning of the big toe aside”. We will prevent the pain and at the developed stage we manage to stop the deterioration of the condition and, hence, pain.

The sooner you start to take care of yourself, the higher the probability that you will escape the pain!

Hallux Valgus Plan - PREVENTION

It is designed for the people starting to feel the first signs of the developing deformity - the big toe starts to moderately “turn aside”, but the condition is still pain free. It is important to be aware of the newest facts proving that this condition is hereditary. Thus, it is necessary to take preventive steps and focus on any little changes on our foot.

The physiotherapist will thoroughly examine your feet so that they can target the treatment individually.

The goal is to adjust the transverse arch of the front foot, train the correct function of the big toe in standing and in the take-off phase of step, to centre all joints of both legs, train sensory motor activity of the leg and teach client to mobilize their leg by themselves doing exercises at home. By way of targeted rehabilitation and physical treatment the mobility of the affected joints improves and the patient experiences overall improvement.

Early rehabilitation and complementary ultrasound treatment will result in the big toe stopping to turn aside, as well as stopping the inflammation and pain from developing.

Hallux valgus PREVENTION plan includes as follows:
  • Targeted rehabilitation
  • Ultrasound therapy application
